ATLE Emerge 2025

Assessment is evolving—and Vretta is at the forefront of designing digital tools that support data-informed learning. In this session, representatives from the Digital Assessment branch will walk us through the latest updates in their digital assessment platform, highlight new features available to educators and students, and share a preview of what’s on the horizon. This session will give you a clear picture of how the platform is growing to meet classroom and system-level needs.

What if your classroom had access to robots, coding kits, and other powerful edtech tools—without needing to purchase them? In this session, we’ll explore how school divisions are using digital lending libraries to give students hands-on access to cutting-edge technology. Managed by educational technologists, these libraries provide schools with borrowable coding devices and support for meaningful integration. From check-out to classroom, we’ll look at how these tools are getting into the hands of students—and how tech teams are sometimes hitting the road to help teachers and classes launch their projects. With the repeal of the FOIP Act, Alberta’s public bodies must adapt to new legislative requirements, and update policies, procedures and programs under the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (PPA) This session will provide a high-level overview of the key changes and their impact on compliance.

Rolling out the new Computer Science curriculum can feel daunting—especially in smaller districts with limited staff, time, or resources. This session is designed for those looking to build meaningful support for teachers without needing a large-scale infrastructure. We’ll share practical strategies for professional learning, resource sharing, and scaffolding classroom implementation, all tailored to the unique challenges of small teams. No matter your role, you’ll leave with ideas and tools to help teachers feel confident and supported as they bring Computer Science to life in their classrooms.

Ignite Centre for eLearning will present the results of their 2-year mental health and wellness grant and discuss the 7-pronged approach to creating a safe and caring online learning community for their grades 1-12 online school.

ATLE’s PIA Project has been on the move—and in this session, we’ll catch you up on this year's progress, pivots and plans still to come! We'll explore how AI is reshaping our approach, driving agile innovation in the process. You'll get an inside peek at how our team came about developing a custom GPT from the ATLE PIA evaluation template, diving into both the big-picture thinking and the practical and necessary steps it took to get there. Expect reflections on lessons learned, how AI has influenced our collective decision-making, a peek under the hood at what it really takes to build a functional, purpose-driven GPT....and ATLE's commitment to not only providing a resource that remains human-verified, but to the ongoing support of school districts in their work evaluating third-party education applications.
