School leaders increasingly find themselves at the intersection of education, ethics, and AI-driven decision-making. This session unpacks the challenges of AI in hiring, discipline, student assessment, and personalized learning—where data-driven insights collide with the need for equity, fairness, and transparency. What biases lurk in AI-powered tools? How do we ensure students and staff retain agency in an AI-mediated environment? Join us for a provocative discussion on AI policy, leadership ethics, and the future of human-AI collaboration in schools.

This session will provide some background about the ASBA AI policy guidance and how it can be used. We'll also share some real-world examples of how AI has been used in education that raise ethical concerns and talk about how the policy guidance relates to those issues.

Join representatives from Greater St. Albert Catholic, Ignite Centre for E-Learning, and Peace Wapiti Public as they each share their division's journey towards establishing AI policies (and/or other related documentation). Learn from those who have stepped up to this work already, and leave with ideas to shape your next steps successfully as well.

This session explores AI’s role in leadership decision-making, from policy development to instructional oversight, and provides a framework for ensuring AI augments—rather than undermines—educator expertise and professional integrity.

Join Thomas, David, and Jason as we talk about how we are using AI for educational administration, process automation, technical assistance, and related topics. If you are interested in visioning and planning, programming, cybersecurity, or other workflows, come hear our stories and perspectives on how it is being used in our schools and school divisions. We will also discuss issues, ethics, and predictions, and attempt to address questions you may have.
